The ‘ILAI Fund’ was established by Albert Elay Shaltiel as a nonprofit organization working towards the benefit of unfortunate children with special needs. Our children suffer from physical, emotional and mental disabilities, they have been afflicted with various syndromes such as down syndrome, autism, polio, hearing loss, visual impairment and other handicaps, they are cancer patients, orphans and children who have been wounded in accidents, wars or acts of terrorism.
Our goal is to reach out to those whose family's financial situation prevents them from receiving the proper care to meet their needs. We do all that we can to find a way to help these unfortunate children and their families - mostly children of single mothers and occasionally orphans. We are always available to our children, 24 hours a day, every day. We have a strong will and desire to make their lives easier whenever possible and as quickly as possible.
The ILAI Fund is approached by Welfare Councils of the hospitals such as ‘Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel' in an organized fashion and they in turn provide us with the necessary documents. These documents enable us to understand every issue in depth: the family’s financial situation, the medical condition of the child and the treatment that is needed. We then conduct an introductory meeting with the child and the family. We are then able to begin helping the family. They can reach us 24 hours a day, ensuring that they receive the utmost help as quickly as possible.
